BOXED video diary – part 1
The cast of BOXED, the new stage show from Shlomo and the Vocal Orchestra, prepare for their shows in May!
BOXED: Suggestions for time travel tunes!
On Thursday I’m going to visit the legendary DJ YODA who is helping me construct some DJ style mixes for one of the key sequences in BOXED, my new stage show. I’m then going to turn the DJ mixes into Vocal Orchestra arrangements.
Why? Well, in a nutshell, in the show the gang invent a human time machine and go back to the 90s to sing an amazing medley of awful 90s tunes. Then they go back to the 80s, 70s, 60s, 1720s, and so on.
What I want to know from you is:
If you could choose any song for the Vocal Orchestra to recreate, what would be your ultimate tune from each decade?

BOXED round 1 is over!
We did it! We went from an idea to an actual show in less than a month. 14 days of rehearsals and a week of shows. It was so much fun, but I’m dying to do it again and make it a million times better. Fingers crossed this could really go somewhere. Big love to all who came down and to all involved. Bring on chapter 2!
New BOXED logo
Here’s the finished logo for BOXED, designed by the lovely people at Bullet who I met on a boat in the Arctic about a year ago. Let me know what you think of it!
video: RFH security bust us for swearing during BOXED workshop
LOL. We’re now thinking of putting this in the show…. a security guard might come in mid-performance and shut the whole gig down due to complaints from next door!!!
Just to clarify, we weren’t calling the security guy a twat! It was part of a workshop exercise. Anyway we renamed it ‘arrogant cat’ after this incident
BOXED is coming!
Yo
Spent the last two days workshopping the story i’ve created for our new show BOXED. Apparently my suggested ending of the gang all landing in the future with a gospel choir of aliens and doing a big Stevie Wonder finale requires a bit more work.
Today we have an experimental workshop with performance artist Stacy Makishi who apparently mashes with your head so I’m looking forward to that!!
What do you guys think of this as a potential logo? Designed by the brilliant guys at Bullet
