BAC Beatbox Academy

A collaboration between BAC, Shlomo and AFTM to create a regular beatbox class in South London.

Shlomo and BAC set up the Beatbox Academy in early 2008. Shlomo had taught a lot of workshops but was frustrated with the lack of development possible within one session. The Beatbox Academy starts with 4 weeks of outreach workshops with jestar* and Zani in schools and youth clubs, followed by a 5 week course every Saturday at BAC. Guest tutors visit on weeks 2 and 3, and in week 4 participants record a solo performance to a special DVD. In week 5 there they perform a show for family and friends. The BAC Beatbox Academy is now in its 2nd term. The finale sees the Beatbox Academy Allstars perform at Burst Festival and Wandsworth Arts Festival.
