Concerto for Beatboxer and Orchestra

Work with Anna Meredith to create the first fully scored classical beatbox collaboration

Shlomo’s plan is to commission a ‘Concerto for Beatboxer and Orchestra’ from ‘Last Night of the Proms’ composer Anna Meredith, to be performed at the Southbank Centre in 2009. This is no novelty piece, it will be a challenge to create a modern classical work recognising the human voicebox as a full-blown musical instrument. A full notation for beatboxer will be developed and made freely available via the internet. The idea was shortlisted for the 2008 New Music Award from the PRS Foundation. Although Shlomo and Anna did not win the Award, they are now looking for other funding options and still plan to commission the Concerto for 2009.
