oxjam – a gig in a shop
On tuesday I played at the launch of Oxjam. It literally was a gig in a shop. check out the shelves of books behind me – they were shaking with the bass and dust was flying everywhere! When i arrived there were still rails of clothes and grannies perusing the second hand goods.
The bill was Nitin Sawnhey, myself and headlined by the almighty afrobeat drummer Tony Allen.
I didn’t realise that he had not brought his band with him, so he created a new band for the night consisting of The Magic Numbers on bass and guitars, Nitin on keys, Roots Manuva, Rosie Wilson from Gorillaz, Roots Manuva, and me!
It was a great gig and we raised money and awareness for Oxfam’s climate change campaign.
